How do I know if the jobs that are posted are still
available?
Jobs will stay on SYSTEM EDGE for 30 days from the posted
date. If a position is filled before the 30 days are up, it
is up to the recruiter whether or not to take the posting
down. As long as the posting is still on the site and the
"Apply for this job" link is visible, then the recruiter is
still accepting applications for the specific job.

What should I use
for keywords?
Using the full text search box, enter the keywords for the
job descriptions you would like to see. Keywords can be
anything including job titles, skills, industry, company, or
location. Keywords search the skills and the description of
the job posting. Examples include programmer, database,
Florida, project Manager, and Java. If you are going to use
the Skills search, use Keywords for the skills you have such
as Java, Unix, and HTML. Skills only search the skill
section of the job posting.

search for multiple keywords?
Enter your keywords into the search string separated by
spaces. Selecting all of the words option means that your
search will only return results that contain each and every

your search will return results that contain the highest
number of your search keywords. The search engine will show
you the results that contain more of your keywords first.

How
do I search for words next to each other?
It may be helpful to search for two or more words next to

can also be used with Boolean searches.
For example: "system administrator"

Can I
submit a search with punctuation?
With a few exceptions, SYSTEM EDGE ignores all punctuation
in your search except when using Boolean searches. If your

What is the difference between a W-2 employee and a 1099
employee?
A W-2 employee is an employee whose taxes are withheld by
the employer and whose earnings are reported to the IRS at
the year-end via a W-2. The W-2 employee completes a form
W-4 at the beginning of their employment to instruct the
employer on how to withhold taxes.
A 1099 employee is in most cases a temporary employee
(technically, not even an "employee"). Because they are not
permanent, they do not need to complete a W-4 or have the
employer withhold taxes. A 1099 employee is responsible for
paying their taxes directly to the IRS. The IRS requires
that the employer report the earnings paid on a form 1099.
The IRS would rather put the burden of tax withholding on
the employer and therefore has fairly stringent rules
regarding when someone can be considered a 1099 employee.
